Bike India Awards 2011
The clock ticks away and brings that time of the year when the best in the automotive industry deserve an appreciation and reward for their consistency, technology and segment-breaking success. Here’s a look into the categories and defendants for the crown.
AWARDS CATEGORIES AND NOMINATIONS

Motorcycle of the year:
*Upto 125 cc
Contenders: The Suzuki SlingShot
Though there weren’t any launches to claim their nomination in this segment and even if there were any, Suzuki seems to have come prepared for a tough fight. Refreshing styling and a refined engine might turn tables in the favour of the SlingShot.
Motorcycle of the year:
*Upto 150 cc
Contenders: The Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS
A perfect combination of performance and style, the 135LS has been earning numbers right from the day of its launch. Being the torch-bearer of four-valve technology from Bajaj clan, the bike has a lot many qualities to earn it brownies.
Motorcycle of the year:
*Above 150 cc
Contenders: The Yamaha SZ, Bajaj Discover 150
In the absence of any launches last year, Yamaha had to do with only being an audience in the show but this year, they stand strong with an efficient contestant. Aggressive pricing and impressive economy without any compromise with the styling makes it another big name to-be in the 150-cc segment.
Scooter of the year:
*Contenders: The TVS Wego
Where other brands believe in adding bling and gadgets to make the scooter appealing to the masses, TVS still goes steady with a subtle styling, humble instrumentation but an excellent city-ride. After all, that’s what a scooter is meant to do and our nominee in the segment knows its job and does it really well.
