Hero Honda Crosses Fifty Lakh Units

New Delhi, January 2, 2011: Hero Honda Motors Ltd the world's largest two wheeler manufacturer continued its dominance of two-wheeler market by recording sales of 501,111 units in the month of December’10, a surge of 33% over the corresponding month in '09. The year 2010 also marked the best ever calendar year for the company with cumulative sales of over 5 million units, a growth of 16.4% over the calendar year 2009. During the year, the company also witnessed 5 lakh plus monthly sales in October and December and also recorded 4 lakh plus monthly sales for eight consecutive months.

The Q3 of FY’11 also marked the most successful quarter for Hero Honda, with sales of 14,28,030 units, up by 29% over the corresponding quarter in FY’10, when the company had sold 11,11,372 units. Commenting on the performance, Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. VP (Marketing & Sales), Hero Honda Motors Ltd, said “2010 has been an outstanding year for Hero Honda. The year 2010 not only witnessed sales of over 5 million units but the company also consistently raised the bar and created new records. A double digit growth rate despite the large base of previous year is the reflection of confidence and trust that our customers and business partners repose in us. For the coming year, we further intend to solidify our leadership by launching new products combined with customer-focused marketing programs.

The year 2010 saw an impressive addition to an already strong product portfolio of HHML, with company launching a mix of new models, variants and refreshes. Earlier this financial year, the refreshed models of Glamour and Glamour FI were introduced to strengthen company’s leadership in the deluxe segment. Besides the launch of the new Super Splendor and Hunk, the festive season also witnessed the launch of a new bike from Hero Honda, the Splendor Pro. Splendor Pro has brought in the biggest-ever change in Splendor since its launch. It comes with APDV engine with Advanced Pro-Series Digital Variable Ignition System. Yet another attraction has been the launch of Passion Pro Commonwealth Games Limited Edition. The bike was designed as a collector’s item in order to celebrate Hero Honda’s association with the Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 and spread the flavor of games amongst the sports-loving youth. During the year, Hero Honda further reinforced its association with sporting events, through its role as a Partner of the Commonwealth Games and Presenting Partner of the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games 2010. HHML also successfully supported yet another highly acknowledged edition of the Indian Open Golf tournament.

Hero Honda to launch all New Hunk

Hero Honda is all set to launch the New 2010 Hunk. It is expcted to be launched in few days. Hero Honda New Hunk appears to be a decent looking motorcycle with its small fairing and has tank shrouds.

Changes/Additional features of New 2010 Hero Honda Hunk:

- Rear Disc Brake
- Digital and Analog Speedometer with clear fonts
- All New visor
- All New front fender
- Tubeless tyres
- LED tail lamps
- Attractive graphics on the tank
- Bull Logo on tank shrouds
- Maintenance-free battery

The tank shrouds are big and New Hunk's tank has good knee recess. Similar to some popular international bikes, New Hunk's telescopic fork is golden in colour. This nicely gels with the 5 spoke black alloy wheels. The gas holder of the rear suspension is also golden. Hero Honda's New Hunk embraces the contemporary black theme - the handlebar weight, alloy wheels, silencer guard and the grab rail of the New Hunk are painted black. Suspension is through telescopic fork at the front and the rear suspension is a 5 step adjustable gas charged one.

New Hero Honda Hunk is expected to feature digital plus analogue instrument cluster which is the latest trend among premium bikes. New Hunk's battery is the same 12V-7Ah and the ignition is through AMI(Advanced Microprocessor Ignition). New Hunk's engine is same as the X-Treme's 4 stroke 150cc engine. It develops 14bhp at 8500rpm of power and 12.8Nm of Torque. Hunk's 150cc engine is mated with a conventional 5speed gearbox. Similar to the TVS CVTi engine the Hunk's 150cc engine produces tumble induction for efficient burning which means more efficiency.

Hero Honda Hunk & Splendor+ Special Edition

Festive seasons are considered an auspicious time for vehicle purchases and Hero Honda knows the importance of the festive season. After the recent launch of the new Karizma ZMR they have announced two new variants of their existing models - the Hunk and the Splendor+ which by the way has sold over one crore unit!

The Hunk that is targeted at the youngsters with its muscular looks now in its new avatar features special Macho Ebony Grey colour treatment which is carried over to the rear grab handles, side cover, foot rest & handle bar, and has body-coloured rear view mirrors along with contemporary stickering on the fuel tank and the raging bull insignia on the tank shrouds it now also features red coloured rear shock absorber springs.

The Splendor has been Hero Honda's highest and oldest selling bike which now boasts of new-look graphics, gold colour treatment for Splendor+ emblem on side cover and Hero Honda logo on fuel tank, visor and console. The Special Edition Splendor+ features the all black engine, alloy wheels, and front fork among many other changes. But true to its tradition of assigning designers more work than their 'busy' R&D lads the world's largest two wheeler manufacturer has yet again made no mechanical upgrades to these bikes whatsoever.
