Performance bicycles are here!

TI Cycles has partnered with Bianchi and Cannondale to enter the performance bicycles segment in India.TI Cycles of India has made a foray into the performance bicycles segment by partnering with international bicycle manufacturers 'Bianchi' and 'Cannondale' to bring to the Indian consumer, bicycles, spares and accessories of International standards.

Cycling enthusiasts can now experience and buy these performance bicycles and accessories at the Track and Trail showroom. Currently a showroom has been setup in New Delhi with plans in place for Bangalore and Pune.

The store will be catering to three key segments namely, Mountain, Road and Hybrid Bikes. The bicycles at the showroom retail from around Rs.17,500 to upwards of Rs.2 lakhs. TI Cycles plans to open 10 'Track and Trail' showrooms in potential cities over the next three years.

According to Arun Alagappan, Senior Vice President-Retail & BSA Motors, TI Cycles partnership with Bianchi and Cannondale will further strengthen their competence in the performance bicycles market and enable them to deliver the best to the Indian customers with high-tech world class components.

Richard Stroem, Director International Sales, Bianchi, said that the company is looking forward to an exceptional growth in India. He also said that Bianchi believes that in a span of over 3 years, India can become one the company's most important export markets, mainly due to the increase in income levels and the large youth population which is showing an increasing trend to stay 'fit'.

TI Cycles of India is a part of Tube Investments of India (TII) and is owned by the Murugappa Group. It is currently the second largest manufacturer of bicycles in India and sells top brands like Hercules and BSA.

Its partner Cannondale is the leading manufacturer of high-end bicycles and sells more than 80 models in over 70 countries worldwide. While Bianchi, since 1885, has intertwined with the evolution of the bicycles winning thousands of races including six world titles.

BSA launches 5 new eScooters

BSA motors today univeiled series of scooters and officially made its foray into the robust electric vehicle market. The new scooters - Smile, Diva, Street Rider, Roamer and Roamer Plus will cater to the need various section of the people. The eScooters are manufactured at the BSA Motors new plant in Ambattur, with an investment of Rs.200 million for the first phase.

The Ambattur plant has an initial production capacity of 150 eScooters a day which can be ramped upto 300 units per day as and when required. The first batch of eScooters would be rolled out from Chennai on 10th November 2008.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. M M Murugappan, Chairman, Tube Investments of India said, "We see our entry into the electric two wheeler market as a logical extension of our current business, from bicycles to electric two wheelers. The eScooters is presently a Rs.450 crore market in India and the industry is expected to double in a year's time. BSA's foray into the eScooters category helps us to expand our portfolio in the two wheeler market. He also added, "BSA eScooters will undoubtedly be the next big success from TII."
