Yamaha Launches FZS Midnight Special Edition

Yamaha Motors India has launched the FZS Midnight Special Limited Edition to commemorate the festive season. The FZS Midnight Special Limited Edition gets additional golden color graphics and new midnight black shade. Technically it is same like the regular FZS except one additional feature that FZS Midnight Special Limited Edition gets a kicker in addition to the self start.

Yamaha India Sells 85000 Units of FZ in 2009

After a spiraling success of the stupendous 150cc FZ16, Yamaha India launched another variant of the same bike with exactly same features albeit with different color tones and named it FZS. Fortunately for Yamaha, FZS was also a grand success despite the 3k difference just for a more funky color theme. As Yamaha saw their sales dipping for their flagship model and to keep the freshness in the product alive, they have launched two new color variants of the bike, Blue with silver graphics and Black with green graphics.

When Yamaha launched the R15 and the FZ series in India a few years back, everyone was mesmerized by the prospects and the technology both of these bikes boasted off. Within a span of few days, both these bikes became a hot favorite among youngsters especially the FZ as R15 was not affordable for all. Till now, FZ series, which includes FZ16 , FZS and the semi faired Fazer, has been a cherished possession of more than 1 lakh customers. Yamaha sold 85,000 units of FZ16 & FZ-S in the bygone 2009 fiscal year which accounted for 40 percent of the total sales of the company for the complete year.

Yamaha FZ Series Gets New Shades

Yamaha India is introducing new color schemes and graphics to add more zing to the FZ16 amd FZS . The company will communicate both FZ16 and FZ-S under a single style statement - Stylish Macho. The FZ series are very popular amongst youngsters and have been a prized possession of more than 1 lakh happy customers. In 2009 fiscal, the company sold 85,000 units of FZ16 and FZ-S, contributing to 40% of total sales volume.

The new FZ-S will be available in Black Cyber Green, Silver Tech and Sport Electric Blue colors while new FZ16 will come in Lava Red and Midnight Black. The all new graphics and change in the color of some body parts will compliment the overall macho expression of these bikes. Further, Yamaha has incorporated new logo which will give these bikes more masculine feel. These bikes will be BSIII emissions regulations compliant. The new FZ-S will be available at a price of Rs. 67,000/- while Yamaha FZ16 is priced at Rs. 65,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

"With the refreshed versions of FZ16 and FZ-S, we want to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive 150cc+ segment and increase our share from 12% to 20% by year-end. We have kept the essence of FZ series bikes intact while altering the aesthetics to exemplify the masculine feeling these tough machines are known for. The stylish graphics will take the street fighter image to its next level," Mr. Koji Arai, Director and Chief Sales Officer, Yamaha India, said.
