Yamaha FZ Series Gets New Shades

Yamaha India is introducing new color schemes and graphics to add more zing to the FZ16 amd FZS . The company will communicate both FZ16 and FZ-S under a single style statement - Stylish Macho. The FZ series are very popular amongst youngsters and have been a prized possession of more than 1 lakh happy customers. In 2009 fiscal, the company sold 85,000 units of FZ16 and FZ-S, contributing to 40% of total sales volume.

The new FZ-S will be available in Black Cyber Green, Silver Tech and Sport Electric Blue colors while new FZ16 will come in Lava Red and Midnight Black. The all new graphics and change in the color of some body parts will compliment the overall macho expression of these bikes. Further, Yamaha has incorporated new logo which will give these bikes more masculine feel. These bikes will be BSIII emissions regulations compliant. The new FZ-S will be available at a price of Rs. 67,000/- while Yamaha FZ16 is priced at Rs. 65,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

"With the refreshed versions of FZ16 and FZ-S, we want to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive 150cc+ segment and increase our share from 12% to 20% by year-end. We have kept the essence of FZ series bikes intact while altering the aesthetics to exemplify the masculine feeling these tough machines are known for. The stylish graphics will take the street fighter image to its next level," Mr. Koji Arai, Director and Chief Sales Officer, Yamaha India, said.

Yamaha To Make India Their Manufacturing Hub For Premium bikes

Yamaha India plans to make India their export hub. The Japanese auto major wants to manufacture premium and delux segment bikes in India, for exporting these vehicles in global market, as announced by a top company official. Yamaha India is already exporting some models including R15 and FZ series to countries like Colombia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Kenya, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

"We have enough infrastructure to manufacture premium and deluxe bikes for the international market. We will manufacture premium and deluxe bikes for overseas markets from India. There is a huge demand in both the bike segments," India Yamaha Motor's National Business Head, Pankaj Dubey, told reporters. "We are seeing a huge demand for exports which grew at 73 per cent last year. The demand will increase more this year on the back of a huge demand for our bikes in the overseas market," he said, adding Yamaha has optimum resources to export across models to overseas markets.

The company has increased its market share from 5% in 2006 to 12% at present, in the 2 wheeler segment. Whereas in exports to global markets, the number has improved from 38639 in 008-2009 to 66904 in 2009-2010 a jump of 73 percent.

IYM, SMI sales up 46.85% and 20.35% in July 2009

Yamaha Motor India reported a 46.85% hike in its sales during July this year, at 17,316 units, as compared to 11,792 units sold during July 2008. IYM recently inaugurated its new manufacturing facility at Surajpur, in UP, and also launched a new variant of the FZ16 - the Fazer 150. In the meanwhile, Suzuki Motorcycle India also registered an increase of 20.35% in its sales during July this year, at 12,585 units, as compared to 10,457 units sold during July 2008.
