Piaggio launches Ape Calessino EV in Europe
Piaggio has launched a lithium-ion battery-powered version of its three-wheeler, the Ape Calessino, which is manufactured in India and sold in various European countries. While the standard Ape Calessino is fitted with a 422cc DI diesel engine, the battery-powered version is a limited edition model, only 100 units of which will be built.
Fitted with a lithium-ion battery pack, the electric three-wheeler has a range of 75km, a top speed of around 50km/h and a charging time of less than four hours. Piaggio claims the Calessino EV's batteries are good for up to 800 recharge cycles and 60,000km. The Ape Calessino Electric Lithium is priced at €19,900 (US$28,300) plus VAT, which is almost twice the standard version's price.

Bajaj Auto Plans Africa & Europe Entry
Bajaj Auto is exploring markets in Africa and Europe for its motorcycles, particularly the Boxer, CT100 and the Pulsar. The company, which exported more than 6 lakh motorcycles, is seeing rising sales of the low cost Boxer and CT100. Bajaj is taking a step ahead in registering the Pulsar brand name in countries before it begins marketing the motorcycle.
"We have had instances in the past where companies had registered the Pulsar brand in their names when they realised we were coming. So, we are selling the bike under the Pulse brand in Iran and as the Rouser in the Philippines," Ashok Saxena, general manager of Bajaj Auto's international business said.

Kawasaki introduces ECO2Logic in Europe
Big Green are now getting… greener. In keeping with newer, stricter C02 emissions norms, Kawasaki, in Europe, are now offering their 'ECO2Logic' technology on some of their bikes - the ones with less than 100bhp.
The 2009 Kawasaki Z750 will be the first bike to be equipped with ECO2Logic, which we think represents tweaks to the fuel-injection and exhaust systems to minimise emissions.
