Honda India to launch a 100cc bike!!

The country's second largest motorcycle maker will be launching new variants of it's existing models along with a performance oriented entry-level bike. Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) had earlier announced that they were unaffected by the global economic slowdown owing to high demand for it's existing products.

However, HMSI is still not taking any chances when it comes to developing product portfolio. The country's second largest motorcycle manufacturer will be launching a performance oriented 100cc bike.

HMSI has announced it will be launching the bike within a year. The company claims the new bike will be unlike anything the segment has seen before. HMSI is not targeting mass volumes and is planning to sell around 2 lakh units a year. The 75-125cc two-wheeler segment in India has already registered sales of 34 lakh units in this fiscal.

Shinji Aoyama,President and CEO, HMSI, has said that the company will also be launching various variants of it's existing models along with newer bike models before bringing the 100cc bike into the market. According to Aoyama, HMSI has a strong vision for the Indian market and will look for opportunities in these challenging times.

Aoyama further added that the company will be investing Rs. 300 crores in the next three years. The investment will be made for launching new products and expanding capacities of HMSI's plant. With HMSI's new 100cc offering on the anvil, buyers in the entry-level motorcycle segment will definitely be spoilt for choice.
