Honda Scooters India sales up by 13.82%
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a 13.82% increase in total sales during August this year, at 96,149 units, as compared with 84,476 units in August 2008. Motorcycle sales in this period went up from 30,454 units to 37,108 units, while scooter sales went up from 54,022 units to 59,041 units.
HMSI is looking at increasing production capacity at its plant in Manesar from the current 1.07 million units per annum to 1.5 million units per annum, by mid-2010. The company will also be investing about Rs 200 crore towards R&D activity in India and towards upgrading its two-wheelers to make sure they comply with BS-III norms.
TVS Motor logs 2% increase in sales in July 2009
TVS Motor reported a 2% increase in sales during July this year, at 350,000 units, as against 343,000 units during July 2008. The company's revenue for Q1, FY 2009-10 stood at Rs 988.70 crore, a 7% increase over the Rs 925.45 crore reported in the year-ago period.
In the domestic market, TVS sold 154,000 motorcycles and 67,568 scooters during July this year, compared to 171,000 motorcycles and 65,545 scooters during July last year. Sales of the TVS King three-wheeler went up from 765 units during July 2008 to 2,223 units during July this year. The company's exports, however, slid from 42,214 units in July 2008 to 32,067 units during July 2009.

Yamaha Motor India Sales up 84.3% in June 2009
IYamaha Motors India has registered a growth of 84.3% in its sales during June 2009, at 17,878 units, as against 9,699 units in June 2008. Ever since IYM launched the YZF-R15 and FZ16 bikes last year, its sales have shown an upward trend.
And in keeping with its newfound performance focus, the company recently launched high-performance race-spec parts for these two bikes. They are also planning to launch a new bike based on FZ series, it will feature full front fairing like the R15.
