Bajaj’s future plans
Undeterred by the slowdown and poor sales (or rather bitten by it), Bajaj has drawn up a serious plan to get back to where it belongs-at the top. The home grown manufacturer has drawn up a schedule coming up with a host of launches back to back in the coming year.
The company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr S. Sridhar said, "We are looking to launch a light sports scooter some time next year." We had just got the XCD 135 DTS-Si and following it is the gearless scooter which we reckon is the long overdue Bajaj Blade. The blade will sport an engine in the 100-150cc category and will slot in above the Kristal DTS-i.

The aim, for BAL, is to launch one new two-wheeler every month, for the next six months. While bike sales have gone down, BAL's three-wheeler sales actually went up by 3%, with the company selling 22,948 units in December 2008, compared to 22,221 units in December 2007.
Bajaj to launch Blade in US
Bajaj is now looking to introduce the blade 125cc scooter in US. The Blade 125cc unveiled at the January Delhi Auto expo is powered by a 4 valve, DTSI engine. The US variant of blade 125cc would feature Fuel Injection technology to return better fuel efficieny figure. Americans who have been riding Yamaha's and Honda' scooter might find the Bajaj's blade an attractive option it will priced very competetively. The success or failure of Bajaj's Blade will convey a lot. If it succeeds and global crude oil price continues to raise, Americans may have to ride splendours like their Indian counterparts to live.
