TVS Apache RTR, M&M to Hit the US Market
TVS Motors is ready to launch its 160cc bike in the US by the end of this year. Royal Enfield already marks its presence in America and Mahindra and Mahindra is also planning to launch its Mahindra Scorpio SUV.
The US market is one of the most developed markets in the world. TVS has already cleared its mandatory technical and emission tests for its bike and the model will foray into the US market later this year.
"We are in the launching mode, and finalising our entry into the US market. Our bike has met all stringent technical norms in the US and we have also appointed distributor to sell our products in the market. The company will launch our advanced fuel injection Apache in the US. We have tweaked the product we already sell in India with some minor changes to meet the US automotive standards," said HS Goindi, TVS Motor president (marketing & sales).
TVS is in talks with American two-wheeler importer and distributor - Classic Motorworks that already sells Royal Enfield Bullet, Chroma and Classic models in the US. The US distributor has also expressed in the selling the TVS models in the US market.

Apache RTR 180 Launched
TVS Motors has come up with a more powerful variant of TVS Apache. The bike retains the basic lines of the current RTR & comes with all the high tech features: digital speedometer with top speed, 0-60 timer, trips, and other extra functionality plus stunning looks.

The Apache RTR 180. It is powered by a 177.4cc engine which generates 17 Bhp of maximum power with 15.5 Nm of maximum torque.
The new 177.4cc mill is a bored out variation of the 160cc mill, and has a longer stroke too. The new engine still remains an oversquare unit, but not so much so as the 160.
Power is up by 1.3 Bhp to 17 Bhp and the new engine produces 2.4 more units of twisting force at 15.5Nm. The peak power is produced at 8500 rpm, similar to RTR 160, though the peak torque is now produced at 6500 revs.
TVS has priced the new Apache RTR 180 competitively at Rs 63,900 in Delhi showroom and Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, rest of India). It is available in 4 shades - Yellow, Black, Gray & Pearl White.
TVS Motor May sales up 5%
TVS Motor Company has posted 5% growth in May 2009, registering total two wheeler sales of 118,574 units against 112,770 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The company's domestic motorcycle sales for the month of May 2009 registered a growth of 3% over the same period of the previous year with total motorcycle sales registering 53,495 units in May 2009 when compared to 54,717 units recorded in May 2008. Scooters sales stood at 22,486 units in May 2009 when compared to 22,931 units recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The ongoing economic slowdown in some countries continued to affect the company's exports which registered sales of 11,135 units of two wheelers in May 2009 as against 14,071 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. The company however, witnessed a growth of 10% in exports over the previous month.
The company is all set to strengthen its premium segment with the launch of the Apache RTR 180, scheduled for the current month. The motorcycle's sporty design, outstanding ride dynamics and technology promises to make it a preferred choice for high performance seekers.
The Apache RTR 180 has already been given rave reviews by auto experts, rating it as a strong, performance driven, zippy bike with excellent stability and handling that makes it a potent contender in the competitive and rapidly evolving Indian performance bike arena.
