TVS Apache RTR, M&M to Hit the US Market

TVS Motors is ready to launch its 160cc bike in the US by the end of this year. Royal Enfield already marks its presence in America and Mahindra and Mahindra is also planning to launch its Mahindra Scorpio SUV.

The US market is one of the most developed markets in the world. TVS has already cleared its mandatory technical and emission tests for its bike and the model will foray into the US market later this year.

"We are in the launching mode, and finalising our entry into the US market. Our bike has met all stringent technical norms in the US and we have also appointed distributor to sell our products in the market. The company will launch our advanced fuel injection Apache in the US. We have tweaked the product we already sell in India with some minor changes to meet the US automotive standards," said HS Goindi, TVS Motor president (marketing & sales).

TVS is in talks with American two-wheeler importer and distributor - Classic Motorworks that already sells Royal Enfield Bullet, Chroma and Classic models in the US. The US distributor has also expressed in the selling the TVS models in the US market.

Suzuki reports a profit for quarter

While many big auto makers are feeling the heat of the recession and facing losses, Suzuki is one of the few auto makers who are in the black. It actually made a profit of $ 59 million in the last quarter, which is still 27% less than its previous year's profits.

This is largely due to its sales in India - Maruti Suzuki sold a little less than 65,000 of its cars in April. Alto, A-Star, Swift and DZire have boosted the company's sales in India and this in turn has helped Suzuki avoid a loss.

In Europe and the US Suzuki has made losses, but the Indian sales figures have helped the company overall. However, Suzuki is not optimistic about the full year's figures, given the slump in the auto market and the increasing value of the yen, which makes exports difficult and reduces their profits.
