Yamaha registered 70 per cent growth in 2010
India Yamaha Motor rode at a brisk pace in 2010 backed by new product offerings and novel marketing initiatives. The company clocked sales of 350,264 motorcycles in 2010 as compared to 267,895 motorcycles in 2009, a growth of 30.7% over last year. The domestic market recorded sales of 258,987 units in 2010 vs. 218,625 units in 2009, a growth of 18.5% while in export markets, a phenomenal growth of 85% was achieved with the sale of 91,277 motorcycles in 2010 vs. 49,270 units in 2009. In December alone, the yamaha india sold 34,839 units this year vs. 20,529 units in December 2009, thereby registering a growth of 69.7%. In domestic markets, the company almost doubled last year’s sales, with 26,567 units in December 2010 vs. 13,612 units in the same month last year.

The export statistics stood at 8,272 units in December 2010 while 6,917 motorcycles were exported in December 2009. “We are pleased with our achievements this year, wherein we have been able to strengthen our brand image and cement our place in the hearts of our esteemed customers. Along with achieving several milestones, the year was marked by various new initiatives to enhance our relationship with our customers. All our product launches replicated Yamaha’s DNA of Performance, Innovation & Design and are in sync with consumers’ expectations. Our initiatives such as the Yamaha Safe Riding Science, yamaha r15 One Make race, Yamaha Fiesta, Yamaha Riding Clinic, Pan India Yamaha SZ Tour Rally were organized to promote biking culture in India while practicing safe riding techniques. We are confident that we will build on our success of 2010 with a strong performance in 2011 as well.” said Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.
During the year, the company made a powerful impression in the new 150cc+ commuter segment with the launch of 153cc Yamaha SZ series (SZ, SZ-X & SZ-R models) and also reiterated its position in the entry level segment with two important launches - Yamaha YBR 110 and Yamaha YBR 125. The company also strengthened its position in superbike segment by launching 1000cc yamaha fz1 in December. Yamaha aims to further its global legacy of being a brand that is refining the motorcycling culture in India by providing bike enthusiasts with the joint thrill of technological superiority and artistic brilliance.
New Yamaha R15 to come in January
The new version of Yamaha R15 is going to be launched on January 25, 2011 in India. It is expected that the bike will have much difference from the present version. The differences in the new make will give better look than the current version and also much better than many other bikes by the competitors. The refreshing of this bike is expected to change many things about the bike, all for the power to the cost. Yamaha R15 is set to increase the level of competition in bike industry. The new version of this bike will make it more comfortable along with its best feature. The bike is set to offer the following features: - New and more good-looking body work, to make the bike more appealing and to attract many people for buying it. It will have more torque than the older version. It is expected that the New Yamaha R15 will also have a superior power which makes a large difference to the point of attraction. It will have wider tyres like those used in the racing/sport bike. This is something which is not seen in older version bike and it could be main feature of this bike to get strong selling point.

The bike also comes with light emitting diode lamps in the rear for better light. The projector headlamps helps better during night time for the clear viewing. Yamaha R15 engine is quite strong and it is mated on a gearbox with 6 speed feature. One of the best feature is this motorcycle is the fuel efficient power which uses an injection system of the fuel for the well balance of fuel and air supplies. Revamped Yamaha R15 on cards
Yamaha India, the leading two wheeler maker in India is going to introduce a revamped version of Yamaha R15. The new Yamaha R15 is expected to be unveiled next month. The bike may be having upper price tag than its existing version. Yamaha R15 is the first sports and modish bike model in India that has created long list of its fans.

The bike will come with advanced powerplant which will be fuel efficient. Other expected changes are split seats, raised rear seat, wider rear tyre, new alloy wheel design, rear wheel hugger, new exhaust, LED tail lamps etc. Yamaha R15 has a Liquid cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC engine. Yamaha R15 is powered by 149.8 cc engine which generates maximum power of17 bhp at 8500 RPM with maximum torque of 15 Nm at 7500 rpm. In terms of power and appearance, the bike scores over Honda Unicorn, Honda Dazzler, Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme, TVS Apache and Bajaj Pulsar 150 which are the popular bikes in India. Recently the company has launched Yamaha FZ 1 supersports and commuter Yamaha RZ-R which which are the flagship bike models in India.
